Funded by the European Research Council (ERC) under Horizon Europe, POSTCOLCIT is a five-year research project (2026-2031) investigating how nationality laws evolved after decolonisation across five former European colonial powers (Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom), and how these legal transformations have shaped the rights, legal statuses and experiences of formerly colonised populations and their descendants.
Responsibilities
Working closely with the Principal Investigator, the Project Manager will contribute to the administrative, financial and operational management of the project, including:
- Supporting the day-to-day administration of the ERC project;
- Monitoring the project budget, expenditure and reporting deadlines;
- Preparing administrative and financial documents required by the university and the funding agency;
- Contributing to organising workshops, conferences, seminars and team meetings;
- Coordinating international travel and research missions;
- Supporting recruitment procedures and onboarding of project staff;
- Contributing to the communication and dissemination activities of the project.
Profile
Applicants should hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) in project management, research administration, higher education management, public administration or another relevant field.
Previous experience in the management of academic or university research projects is highly desirable. Experience with European research programmes (particularly Horizon Europe and/or ERC projects) will be considered a strong advantage.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- Excellent organisational and planning skills;
- Strong administrative and financial management abilities;
- The ability to work independently and prioritise competing tasks;
- A proactive approach and strong problem-solving skills;
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken) is required. A very good command of French would be an asset to facilitate the practical organisation of the project and interactions with local partners and service providers.
The position is offered on a part-time basis (50% FTE) for an initial period of two years, with the possibility of renewal until August 2031.

- A high degree of autonomy and responsibility;
- Flexible working arrangements, including the possibility of remote working for up to one day per week, in accordance with university regulations;
- An initial two-year contract with the possibility of renewal until August 2031;
- Indicative gross monthly salary of approximately €1,420 for candidates with 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
