The Association of ERC Grantees (AERG) will offer membership to successful UK ERC applicants who cannot take up their starting, consolidator or advanced ERC grant.

UK scientists remain able to apply to ERC. However, successful applicants currently cannot hold ERC grants in the UK because UK's association with Horizon Europe has not yet been confirmed.  The UK government has offered to take over funding of successful UK applications to ERC, and fund them through the UK's Research and Innovation Organisation.

Europe needs a common pool of research talent to meet future challenges. Consistently with its stance on the matter, AERG wants to offer those successful UK ERC-applicants the benefits of being linked to its European scientific community. Thererefore, AERG has decided to accept successful UK ERC applicants for full AERG membership. With this temporary solution, we hope to maintain the links between successful UK applicants and the wider European science environment, including ERC, that those applicants expressly applied to join.
